FINDING SILVER LINING IN COVID CLOUD
Our lives have changed forever. Now we are no longer living in the 20th century but we are living in the age of COVID. Such is the impact that, henceforth it shall be divided into pre and post COVID-19. It’s a daily fight, a constant struggle for 200 and counting nations to be able to survive the mighty yet so tiny a virus.
While the pandemic is still unfolding, a number of changes both in terms of collateral damage and the co-benefits are showing its result. With deaths and suffering being the ugly face of this pandemic, there are few impacts which can change our lives forever.
Never before this pandemic, we had realized that life is not at all about a 10 to 6 job, it is much beyond it. We all have a life beyond the profession, a family and there should be a continuous urge to nourish the relationship and cherish each and every small occasion with our loved ones.
Almost everyone has noticed that the skies have become bluer, the air is cleaner, brighter moon and starry nights and even the rivers have become clearer. We achieved all this without the multi crore purification plants.
Despite the ongoing fatalities due to this pandemic, a drastic reduction in mortality rate is observed. For instance, over 12,000 lives are lost each month in road accidents which have gone down to a few hundred. A much deeper and long lasting impact will be seen in the coming years on the change of mindset of the youth as they realize the importance of having a greener footprint, cleaner air to breathe in and a lot more time in hand to pursue their vocation.

Though these are some sprinklers on the dark black bed, the major concern of the hour is investment in better health facilities and infrastructure. The psychological set back that followed with the pandemic in the form of strict curfew and total lockdown was paramount. We collectively as social beings realised that despite the reduced work burden our happiness is limited if our movement and intermingling with the society is curtailed. As they say, every cloud has a silver lining, so does this pandemic.
On one hand, it made us realize the importance of basic hygiene measures, on the other hand, it instilled our faith in the relentless services of the police force team, Doctors and Paramedics, Research scholars and scientists as well as the countless others who helped us sustain through this difficult times with their essential services. While we salute the national heroes who laid down their lives to keep us safe and protected, let us all not forget to repay them back by keeping safe, following government health protocols and harbouring basic humanitarian respect and compassion for all.

is seeing light inspite of being surrounded by darkness."
