CONSEQUENCES OF THE PANDEMIC
A sudden and drastic change in our lifestyle due to the growing outbreak has us reeling from the side effects of it. The year 2020 marked the beginning of months of unemployment, bouts of depression, and severe anxiety. Surveys conducted during this time period have shown the inability of some people to properly deal with these situations. The ineptitude to deal with stress has resulted in :
Fear and worry about your health and the health of your loved ones, your financial situation or job, or loss of support services you rely on.
Changes in sleep or eating patterns. Difficulty in sleeping or concentrating. Worsening of chronic health problems. Worsening of mental health conditions.
Additionally, Public health actions, such as social distancing, can make people feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety. COVID has also revealed who is more susceptible to contracting the disease as compared to others. People who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 for example, older people, and people of any age with certain underlying medical conditions.
"Mental health is often missing from public health debates, even though it is critical to well being".
— Diane Abbott
CHANGES IN LIFESTYLE : DEVELOPMENT OF HOBBIES
The pandemic has also been a boon to people who wished to develop or rekindle some hobbies, be it increasing your reading time by exploring new content or genre or spending time maintaining your fitness at home through work out videos. From cooking tasty meals to painting scenic wonderlands, the pandemic has not been all bad for those who have been utilizing this time for their betterment.
EXCELLING IN ONLINE COURSES
Earning a certificate through completion has its perks as it boosts your ability to find a better job.
An online college education might give students access to specialized degree courses that may not be available in an easily accessible or local institution of learning. Online classes allow the sharing of expertise that helps more people have access to education that is not readily available in certain geographic locations.
It also provides individuals an opportunity to finish a degree they might have started and been unable to continue with for one reason or another.
INCREASED FAMILY TIME
The quarantine period has proved to be good in terms of quality time with family, a better understanding of kids and their day to day activities. Sitting together to eat as a family was one of the most important things that we stopped doing. However, with the lockdown and all the family members at home, the tradition of eating together is back. Family members are coming together to keep the house clean. With the house helps not there to help, everyone at home is doing chores from sweeping to washing clothes which makes them a perfect way to bond as well. The lockdown has also made us have home-cooked meals or Ghar ka khana more than ordering junk from outside
