Human race has lived through various ages-the stone age, the bronze age, the iron age, the age of renaissance, the age of industrial revolution and the information age. I believe that the present times in years to come will be remembered as ‘the Age of Realisation’.
The age which taught the humans that a small micro-organism can impact the lives of one and all- from Presidents and monarchs; to blacks, whites and browns; from the ultra-rich to the barely surviving; from one end of the globe to the other; irrespective of any religious denomination, caste or tribe; man, woman; old and young . It has taught that each and everyone is at the end of the day-human.
It has taught everyone the vulnerability of the self , the dependency on each other and the strength of relationships. Although people are not meeting each other at all, or, not as often as they used to, but in some ways they have made stronger bonds with each other. It has taught us the interconnectedness with each other. People have realised the importance of each and everyone in their lives, they have realised that they can be quite independent, they have realised the true essence of relationships in supporting each other in various ways.
People have realised that nature got a breather when they stopped.. In a sense humans
were the virus to nature- forever
exploiting it for their own
comforts with no care for
plants or animals, no care
for clean air or water,
just profits. Humans are
connected to nature as one
of the many beings in its lap, and, not as it’s master.
The butterfly effect taught us that big things are an assimilation of small causes. The fact that small things and actions can lead to big consequences in nature. It is, what is called the ripple effect.

The ripple effect of thoughts and actions. Can we for a moment step back and think of the ripple effects caused by the virus or the actions taken to contain it? Can we even imagine the gigantic consequences of some actions taken today? Or of the impact that our thought processes brought us to this level? This has led in some sense to a realisation.
Realisation is the awareness of the self, of all that is around. Realisation is the awareness of what is, as is, devoid of anger, fear, delusion or expectation.
I believe that this time has enabled one to see the world clearly without being blurred by the film of fear, anger or delusion. Without expectation of selfish gains, without expectations
of glory and fame.
Is this pandemic nature’s way of teaching all of us a lesson, giving us the realisation to be human! Realisation, to pause, to value the little things in life, to value life, to
have empathy and to value relationships.
This realisation I believe will be the fountain of hope, the air of breath, the strength of the being and the tomorrow of our lives...
